What is Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS)?

Humanities and Social Sciences is a strand offered to senior high school students under the Academics track. The HUMSS Senior High School strand is designed for students who intend to take up journalism, communication arts, liberal arts, education, and other social-science related courses in college. Because these courses revolve heavily around interacting with other people, the Senior High School HUMSS strand is all about improving students’ reading, writing, and speaking skills.

A common misconception about the Senior High School HUMSS strand is that it is a lot easier than other tracks and strands or that students who take this strand do not need to study as hard as compared to the other strands (especially those in the Academic track). While HUMSS does not involve as much Math and computation as tracks like ABM or STEM, it is by no means “easier.”

HUMSS is heavily-centered on research and will require students to read, write, and present multiple papers throughout senior high school. Students under this strand will be exposed to eye-opening subjects such as world religions, Philippine and world literature, political and community development specialization subjects, and more.

We are a student of Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) that want to inspire other students that don’t know what to take in senior highschool. We want them to know what will they experience and what they will know in HUMSS. =)

Advantages of taking HUMSS Strand

What is the advantage of taking HUMSS strand? One of the advantage of taking this strand is that, your strand is that your speaking skills will enhance and this strand you can build and boost your self confidence. Many of the teenagers are lack in communication and become introvert. In this strand will help you to communicate and build your confidence. In HUMSS strand there are many activities that will help you to be more active and communicate to others. HUMSS strand revolves around improving the students reading, writing ang speaking skills. As a Humss student I will experienced many struggles and barriers but still I will choose to pursue and continue. This strand will help me to find my hidden talent like ni acting. I will become a best actress in film held in our school.
This advantages will help you to become more competitive to finish your career. This is only the advantage try to explore the HUMSS world and find the answer by yourself.
